I write this half-baked finding myself thinking, ‘why don’t I write a wee mini blog on things I care about’. I’m a chill gal with big thoughts due to my degree in philosophy. so here we are lads, most of these rants or discussions are gonna be absolute pieces of garbage since they’re my rambling thoughts, but I hope you all enjoy! : )
Currently my latest philosophy module is Feminist Philosophy, so be prepared that this is all I’m probably going to talk about as its going to consume my free time along with odd posts about my dissertation that is currently a DISS-aster.

LETS TALK FEMINISM MY DUDES
I find myself often stressing over why feminism is so misunderstood by so many individuals. Yes, feminism started as a movement for women, in today’s modern age feminism is about ALL GENDERS, nOt JuST wooMeN. Anyone who disagrees can come fight me xx. No, we feminists don’t hate men; no gal who understands what feminism is wants to undermine men, or belittle them, we just want equal opportunities. Is that so hard to understand? Let’s read n weep here my loves (but mostly weep) the term feminism is completely misunderstood today not only by men, but by women too. I’m a feminist who doesn’t hate all men, who wears false lashes n looooves a dress
Today people think feminism isn’t needed anymore, that we’ve progressed from the idea that big strong manly men rule the world, (deep man voice inserted)- and whilst that was necessary the case within the world thousands of years ago society has evolved from this in the 21st century. strength has been replaced with intelligence and creativity something that is not dictated through hormones the way testosterone influences strength. Women, like men are both equally capable of being as intelligent and creative as one another. Humans have evolved to adapt to this; however, it seems our notion of gender still remains problematic ahhhhhh! >:(
i’ll keep it brief with a vague outline of the ‘waves’ of feminism. I plan to expand on topics and issues throughout the weeks! Feminism is often described n pigeonholed in waves, the first wave that emerged (1848-1920) that was concerning women’s right to vote; the second (1960s-1980s) dealt with the issues of social and cultural inequalities; the third wave (1990s-2000s+) is both a continuation and reaction to second wave feminism, responding to previously seen failures. Intersexuality has become a big part of this third-wave movement: something that is gonna be discussed next week!
Does this idea of waves within the movement actually hinder the importance and understand of feminism? Issues challenged within each wave have differed though social context and factors. It also raises the issue of what one we are currently in today, is it still the third? Or have we moved into a fourth wave??? Intersexuality is important within this movement, the accessibility of the internet like never before have allowed for platforms to be created that pervious feminist groups had never had the chance to use.
Arguably I feel were moving away from this idea of empowering solely women to empowering ALL within our society. Whilst continuing to advocate for women, fourth-wave feminists believe boys and men should be able to express their emotions freely and safely. No more “man up” or “boys don’t cry”.
